A Personal Request: Help Share the Story Behind the Freedom Convoy
By Tom Marazzo, Captain (Ret’d), Canadian Army
Dear Friends,
I hope this message finds you well. I am reaching out to you because each of you played a vital role in helping me bring my book to life and into the hands of readers. Your support was a clear sign that you believed in the importance of the story I wanted to share.
Writing this book was not an easy decision. I grappled with whether I had the right to tell this story, so I sought the blessing of the Freedom Corp Board before moving forward. Their encouragement, along with your unwavering support, reinforced that this story needed to be told.
In crafting the book, I was meticulous about its accuracy, drawing inspiration from Mark Bowden’s approach in “Black Hawk Down”. I ensured that every detail was corroborated by multiple witnesses. Moreover, after participating in the Public Order Emergency Commission (POEC) for seven weeks, I felt compelled to include testimony that highlighted the stark contrast between the actions of the government and our efforts. Many quotes in the book are directly from the testimonies of government and police officials.
One of my primary goals was to respect everyone who worked alongside us. While I upheld this promise to the best of my ability, there were instances where the complete story had to be told, but I chose not to reveal any names to maintain the integrity of the Freedom Convoy’s legacy.
The book also contains numerous lessons learned for anyone inspired to stand up against government actions in the future. It candidly discusses what we did right and where we could have done better. Some may think I’ve been too self-critical, but I believe in learning from our mistakes to guide future efforts.
To date, we’ve sold 1,631 copies worldwide. Despite significant investment in advertising, the reach has been limited. This brings me to my request.
If you’ve read the book, would you be willing to take a photo of yourself with it while enjoying your morning coffee and share it on your social media? I understand that some of you may be camera shy, but the focus is on the book and your coffee for the photo.
Your endorsement will mean more to potential readers than anything I could say.
I must admit, self-promotion is not my strong suit, which is why I’m turning to you for help. If you believe in the story and its significance, please help me share it. Your support in spreading the word would mean the world to me.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart.
With sincere gratitude,
Tom Marazzo
