How Can Canadians Trust the Liberal Party with This Track Record of Scandal and Illegality?
By Tom Marazzo
As we reflect on nearly a decade under Justin Trudeau’s Liberal government, Canadians face a stark question: How can we be expected to trust a party with a record of repeated scandals, ethical violations, and even illegal conduct?
Let’s start with Mark Carney. On February 7, 2022, in the Globe and Mail, the former Bank of Canada governor urged the government to “follow the money” and “punish” financial supporters of the Freedom Convoy, calling peaceful protesters “seditionists.” One week later, the Trudeau government invoked the Emergencies Act, and bank accounts—many belonging to Canadians who simply donated to a cause—were frozen without a court order. Let’s be clear: Carney didn’t write the orders, but his words helped create the narrative that justified them. If this is how he influences policy from the sidelines, imagine the erosion of liberty under a Carney-led government. And let’s not forget, under Trudeau’s watch, CSIS confirmed that at least eleven MPs were compromised by foreign interference, yet we still don’t know who they are. What kind of government suppresses this information and then expects public trust?
