This book is not reaching enough people.
I'm especially frustrated by this level of apathy!
The province is burning, the sky has turned yellow, and people are breathing wildfire smoke like this is somehow normal.
I don’t say that to be dramatic. I say it because this is exactly why I wrote The People’s Emergency Plan.
There is only so much you can do about air quality when smoke covers an entire region. You can close up the house, run filtered air, seal off one clean room, wear a proper mask, or leave the smoke zone if conditions become unsafe.
But when it comes to protecting your family, your documents, your pets, and your property, there are practical things you can do before the emergency makes the decision for you.
If you are in a wildfire risk area, do this now:
Get your documents ready to go.
Pack medications, identification, chargers, cash, pet supplies, and go-bags.
Keep vehicles fuelled and facing out.
Know your evacuation route and at least one backup route.
Move combustible items away from the house.
Close windows and doors if you have to leave.
If you are staying inside because of smoke, keep the HVAC running only if it is recirculating indoor air and filtering it properly. Turn off fresh-air intake, bathroom fans, kitchen exhaust fans, and anything else pulling smoky air into the house.
If you have to evacuate:
Switch off the air conditioning and central HVAC at the thermostat before you leave.
Close interior doors throughout the house to slow the movement of heat and smoke.
Close the fireplace damper.
Close the garage door.
Leave interior and exterior lights on so firefighters can see the house through smoke.
And most importantly: leave early. Do not wait until the roads are full, visibility is poor, and everyone else is trying to escape at the same time.
My book is not about fear. It is about planning. It is about making decisions before panic, smoke, road closures, power failures, or government confusion take those decisions away from you.
The tragedy is that many people only realize they needed a plan when they are already in the middle of the emergency. That is when they start wishing they had prepared, written things down, and taken it seriously sooner.
I’ll be direct: this book is not reaching enough people.
I wrote The People’s Emergency Plan for exactly this kind of moment — when families need more than supplies, guesses, and vague advice. They need a practical plan they can actually follow.
I’m asking for help getting emergency-planning information in front of people who may need it right now.
If you believe this matters, please buy the book, share this post, or send it to someone who needs to get serious about preparing their family.
Preparedness is not paranoia.
It is responsibility.

Beautiful BC is purposely being burned to the ground. Pemberton & area are on Evacuation Alert 🚨
A beautiful small town with an abundance of farms & horse ranches....being devastated!
And Whistler Village Resort Municipality (25 mins south) is still focused on & spending millions preparing for the upcoming Crankworx drunken party week....
Too many rich & careless zombies in that area #sadly
Including PIQUE woke news reporters 🫣🤐🙊🙈🙉
I bought the book and now I have bug-out bags for my family including my pet. I go through them once a year to use the food and water and replace them with new items. I also have the documents ready and a bit of cash as we've dealt with power outages for many days after a storm. Thank you for writing this book. I feel less stressed because we have a plan.
